This Privacy Policy applies to Beijing Youda Information Technology Center (hereinafter referred to as "we," or "us") and describes how and why we access, collect, store, use, and/or share (hereinafter referred to as "process") your personal information when you use our services (hereinafter referred to as "the App," "the Service," or "the Platform"), including but not limited to the following scenarios:

  • Downloading and using our mobile application ChefCal (Chinese name: 大厨日历) or any other applications, products, or services linked to this Privacy Policy;
  • Interacting with us in other related ways, including through sales, marketing, or events.

Reading this Privacy Policy will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. We are responsible for determining how your personal information is processed. If you disagree with our policies and practices, please do not use our services.

We will notify you in advance of any scheduled policy changes regarding the Service you are using. The revised Privacy Policy will become effective once published in the App or upon notification. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes signifies your agreement to the revised Privacy Policy.

1. What Personal Information We Collect and Use
(a) Personal Information You Provide to Us Voluntarily
  • ChefCal Account Information: When you log in, register, or update your profile, you voluntarily provide us with your username, phone number, email address, password, and profile picture. We collect this information to assist you in completing registration (ChefCal account, avatar, nickname, and password) and to enhance the security of your account.

  • User Content: During your use of the Service, we process the content you generate, including uploaded images, videos, audio files, text, recipes, comments, tags, feedback, likes, and related metadata such as the creation time of the content.

  • Information You Provide When Contacting Us: Includes information you provide when seeking support or assistance.

(b) Information Automatically Collected
  • Log and Usage Information: We collect logs or data about how you use the Service, such as the recipes you view, your search history, the buttons you click within the App, your favorite recipes, and issues you encounter.

  • Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access the Service, including IP address, user agent, push notification ID, language preferences, time zone information, network type, screen resolution, device model, operating system name, and OS version. We use this information for account security, authentication, and to identify activities across devices. This data may also be used for internal analysis.

  • Approximate Location (Inferred from IP Address): We collect your approximate location to match you with servers closest to your country or region for faster access and to enforce data protection policies appropriate for your location.

  • Image and Audio Information: We may collect information from videos, images, or audio content you provide, such as extracting text from images when you use the shopping receipt entry feature. This data may also be used to enrich our product database for more accurate and efficient service delivery.

(c) Information from Other Sources
  • Third-Party Login: When you use third-party login options such as Apple Sign-In, WeChat Login, or Google Login, you allow us to process information provided by these platforms, including your username, public profile, user ID, email address, profile picture, country or region, and other data for ChefCal account registration or login.

  • Payment Information: We process payment-related data during in-app purchases or subscriptions, such as payment method, order number, and payment amount. Sensitive payment details such as bank card numbers or payment passwords are handled by third-party payment providers. We do not process these details. You may refer to their privacy policies:

2. How We Use Your Information

We process your information to provide, improve, and manage our services, enable you to use their features, enforce and execute our Terms of Service, ensure security and prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations. We typically use the information we collect in the following ways:

  • Facilitate account creation, authentication, and user account management.

  • Fulfill our Terms of Service and deliver services to users.

  • Respond to user inquiries and provide support.

  • Improve and develop our platform and conduct product development.

  • Address requests related to products, services, platform features, support, and internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistics, and surveys, as well as soliciting your feedback.

  • Enhance platform security by scanning, analyzing, and reviewing user content for compliance with our Terms of Service and related policies.


3. How We Share Your Information

We may need to share your personal information under the following circumstances:

(a) Business Transfers

We may share or transfer your information in connection with any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or during negotiations of any such transfer of all or part of our business to another company.

(b) Service Providers

We provide information and content to service providers that support our business, such as cloud service providers and payment processors, to facilitate our Terms of Service.

(c) Voluntary Sharing

When you choose to share content on social platforms, your user content, profile picture, username, and related information may be shared on those platforms.

(d) Other Users

When you share personal information (e.g., by posting comments, contributions, or other content on the service platform) or otherwise interact with public areas of the platform, such personal information may be viewable by all users and may be publicly distributed outside the platform indefinitely.

(e) For Legal or Regulatory Reasons

We may process your personal information without your consent in the following cases as permitted or required by law:

  • To comply with legal obligations, procedures, or requirements.

  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our users, third parties, or the public as required or permitted by law.

  • To respond to public health emergencies or in urgent situations to protect the life, health, or property of individuals.


4. Where We Store Your Data

We maintain global servers to ensure continuously service worldwide.

Our servers are located in Mainland China, the United States, Singapore, and Germany. Your personal data is stored according to the following rules based on your region:

  • From Mainland China: Stored on servers in Mainland China.

  • From the United States: Stored on servers in the United States.

  • From the European Union: Stored on servers in Germany.

  • From Singapore: Stored on servers in Singapore.

  • From regions not mentioned above: Stored on the nearest server outside Mainland China based on your IP location.

We will strictly adhere to relevant regulations in your region for cross-border data transmission. If you access our services from regions with data collection, use, or disclosure laws different from those in Mainland China, the United States, Singapore, or Germany, your continued use of our services constitutes your consent to transfer your data to the corresponding server and process it in these regions.


Non-Personal Data, Anonymized Data, or Hashed Data (Irreversible Encryption) Transmission

Under applicable laws and regulations, we may conduct cross-border encrypted data transfers:

Your unique user identifiers (user ID, login phone number, login email) will be hashed (irreversibly encrypted) for cross-border encrypted transmission to facilitate a unified account system across servers.

Anonymized data may be transmitted across borders.

Non-personal data may also be transmitted across borders.


5. Information Security

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As such, we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not breach our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information.

We strive to protect your personal information but acknowledge that the transmission of personal information to our services is at your own risk. You should access our services only within a secure environment.


6. Your Rights

You may review, change, or deactivate your account at any time under the laws applicable to your jurisdiction.

In certain regions (such as the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, and Canada), you have specific rights under data protection laws. These rights may include: (i) requesting access to and obtaining a copy of your personal information; (ii) requesting correction or deletion of your personal information; (iii) restricting the processing of your personal information; (iv) data portability, where applicable; and (v) the right not to be subject to automated decision-making. In some cases, you may also have the right to object to the processing of your personal information.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK and believe we are unlawfully processing your personal information, you also have the right to file a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are in Switzerland, you may contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

Account Information

Withdrawal of Consent: If we rely on your consent as the legal basis for processing your personal information (which may be express or implied depending on the applicable law), you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent by contacting us using the details provided in the "Contact Us" section below or updating your preferences. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing conducted before your withdrawal, nor will it affect processing based on lawful grounds other than consent.

Review or Delete Account

If you wish to review, change, or delete your account, you can:

  • Log into your account settings and update your user account.

  • Contact us using the provided methods below.

Upon your request to delete your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, assist with investigations, enforce our legal terms, and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.

Cookies and Similar Technologies: Most web browsers accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject cookies. If you choose to delete or reject cookies, this may affect certain features or services of our platform.


7. How Long We Retain Your Information

We will retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (e.g., for tax, accounting, or other legal requirements).

No purpose in this Privacy Policy will require us to retain your personal information longer than 3 months after the user account is deactivated.

When we no longer have a legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will delete or anonymize it. If deletion or anonymization is not possible (e.g., because your personal information is stored in backup archives), we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.


8. Privacy Policy Updates

We will notify you in advance of any planned changes to this Privacy Policy for the services you use. The updated Privacy Policy will take effect upon its publication within the application or as notified to you. Continued use of our services after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
